Jamie Pugh The Impossible Dream Semi Final Performance

We are all sad to see Jamie Pugh go from Britain’s Got Talent semi finals, Jamie performed a rendition of The Impossible Dream from The Man of La Mancha and he did a fairly good one in spite of his fears and stage fright.

It’s true that Jamie’s Performance was flawed, but so was Susan Boyle’s, in contests like this it never seems fair when a talented contestant has to leave, but this shouldn’t stop Jamie from pursuing his dream of becoming a professional singer, he demonstrated that he can move people with his voice and by working harder on his stage fright he may be able to reach his dream.

Here is the video of Jamie Pugh’s rendition of The Impossible Dream on last night’s semi finals of Britain’s Got Talent with the comments from the judges after his performance

In this case the judges gave a lukewarm reaction to Jamie’s performance, specially Amanda Holden who buzzed midway through the performance . Piers Morgan said that he had loved his first audition but “his voice wasn’t as good tonight”. Amanda Holden, said that she didn’t feel comfortable watching him and Simon Cowell told Jamie that the last part of the performance was very good but as an overall it wasn’t good enough.

Jamie Pugh’s music Dream is Over…For now

She announced in the press that she was very disappointed by Jamie Pugh and she didn’t give Jamie any chance during last night’s performance. Amanda Holden pressed the buzzer midway through Jamie Pugh’s performance of The Impossible Dream from The Man of La Mancha.

It’s true that Jamie was struggling to find the self confidence to perform Live on national TV, specially since after Susan Boyle the attention on him was the greatest in the contest, and just as Susan Boyle struggled to start up with her song.

But the second part of the song was great, even Simon acknowledged that the ending was great, but Jamie’s stage fright was holding him back and he may never be able to overcome it:

“I didn’t think it was good enough. You may have to come to terms with the fact that your nerves are always going to hold you back.

“You may have to come to terms with the fact that this is not for you.”

One thing was true, he was very nervous and it showed, it showed a tad too much which makes people uncomfortable, nobody likes seeing someone suffering on stage.

Perhaps there was some part of true in what Amanda Holden said:

“You have got a good voice but I didn’t feel comfortable watching you.

“You are there to entertain me and I was very uncomfortable and nervous for you.

“As a member of the audience and judge I have to be able to relax and enjoy it but I couldn’t.”

Jamie is very talented and he made a mistake not saying that he had performed in front of a large audience before, something that seemed so futile, cost him his place in the finals and the public as the judges can be very little understanding when they feel betrayed in any way.

Jamie Pugh said he was going to continue working on his singing abilities, on his stage fright.

Piers Morgan was a bit more gentle and he told Jamie Pugh who looked appalled at the judges slamming of his performance:

“You’ve got a whole lot of guts to get up there and do that.”

Jamie promised judges Amanda Holden, Simon Cowell and Piers Morgan that he was not going to give in and he was going to continue fighting for his dream until it comes true.

Jamie Pugh’s Lie Could Cost Him the Boot

When Jamie Pugh was intervieed by Britain’s Got Talent Hosts Ant & Dec, he said that he sufferend from serious stage fright and that it was very crippling for him and it had prevented him from trying to go professional before. Afterwards he was questioned by the judges about whether he had been on front of an audience like the one in the theater at the moment and he said no.

But soon came out that he had actually been in front of a large audience at Her Majesty’s Theater in 2006 for Star EFX Sunday Night Live, a showcase for new talent.

It is true that he was part of a group and that the performance was less than memorable, but to many he should have mentioned that during his audition in Britain’s Got Talent, and that could cost Jamie any possibilities of winning the contest or even going to the finals after his performance in the semi finals.

Bookies are offering odds 7/1 on Jamie getting the Boot, a representative from William Hill’s said:

“A large part of Jamie’s charm was based on his `chronic’ stage fright.

“Once you take that away he is fairly ordinary and you can see Simon Cowell taking a dim view.”

And though I don’t believe Jamie lied when he was interviewed his carelessness of failing to mention that particular previous experience could cost him a great deal. He needs to surprise both judges and audience with his second performance ion order to regain the credibility that he is loosing by this news.

Jamie Pugh West End Experience

Did Jamie Pugh lie when he said he had no experience of singing in front of a large audience?

It seems that some person with a prolific memory has remembered Jamie from a performance in London West End in 2006 at Her Majesty’s theatre on Haymarket in London which currently houses The Phantom of The Opera.

According to Britain’s Got Talent interview before the show, Jamie was very nervous because he suffered severe stage fright and he had never performed in front of a large crowed which seems to clash with the fact that he did perform in front of around 1,200 people in 2006. After revealing this a shower of critics and bad press has followed the singer from wales.

Some may say that he lied in order to get the sympathy from the public and judges, but the fact is that he performed as part of a group singing  “Rod Stewart Medley” at a Sunday night show intended to give new acts their first taste of the limelight.

Performing as a group is not the same as going solo in front of a +3,000 crowd, and according to Jamie, that’s what he meant, he was so nervous because all the attention was going to be focused on him, on his singing and that’s what was causing Jamie’s stage fright. Perhaps we jump too soon to criticize Jamie who might have been really nervous at the moment of the interview to go deep into details.

He is still a very talented man, he still sang beautifully and he may surprise us in the semi final, let’s not crucify him for not being specific.

Jamie Pugh is so Scared

I fear success but I don’t fear failure

These are the words of Jamie Pugh after last Saturday’s show where he surprised both judges and public by his performance of Bring Him Home.

The singer who is currently shuffling two jobs, one as a pizza delivery men and father of a three year old kid is so unaware of his talent that he goes on to say:

“What you have to realise is that I personally don’t feel I can sing.”

For Jamie Pugh who unlike other contestants is completely unexperienced of singing in public, the next stage of the competition is a big pressure on his shoulders, he went to the contest unconvinced, and totally unexpectant of what would later happen, a standing ovation from the public and praise from the three judges. He is terrified of dissapointing them:

“Now if there’s an expectation I can sing, it makes things even worse.

“If I think about my next performance I will get a head full of broken toys.”

Perhaps Jamie should believe in himself more, just as Simon said and stop saying coments like:

“I’ve failed at a lot of things and I fear success because I’m Jamie. I’ve got to appear on a TV show and I’m dreading it.

“I’m a wreck – I’m not a star.”

Which he recently mentioned in an interview. Stage fear is very understandable when you have never been in front of a public, but the only way to overcome that fear is by confronting home

We all are sure that Jamie can make it through the next stage, he won’t fail, he’ll surprise us all again as he did last saturday.

Go to Youtube and watch his performance, Jamie blew everybody away by his rendition of Bring Him Home, so he shouldn’t worry he’ll be alright in the next stage.

Jamie Pugh didn’t want the Simpathy Vote

ousJamie Pugh’s life has been a bumpy one, in his mid 20’s he had to go through one of the worst things that can happen, to loose a loved one to a terrible illness.

10 Years ago Jamie’s wife Tracie, then 27 ,passed away of a brain tumor. A horrible episode in Jamie’s life described by a friend:

“Tracey and I would chat over the fence in our back gardens, but then for a month or so she didn’t come out.

“I asked Jamie where she’d been and he told me she was very poorly – a brain tumour, he said.

“It knocked us for six. She was so young and full of life. Soon after, when she must have been close to the end, they moved in with her mum. We saw Jamie a couple of months later and he said she’d passed away.”

This left Jamie completely destroyed, now 10 years afterwards his life is back on tracks, with a three year old son from his partner Donna who gave him the strength to audition for a second time in Britain’s Got Talent, the first one he could barely speak out his name.

Jamie didn’t want the sympathy vote, that’s why he hid his sad story from the judges and TV producers when he auditioned. To answer questions about it would have only made him more nervous and he’s probably wouldn’t have been able to sing the way he did.

The rest is history, with one promising career in the music industry Jamie Looks up to the future, he is nervious about the semifinal where he will have to sing live on TV in front of millions of people. but as he says ” I’ll cross that bridge when I have to”.

The judges only praise his performance, but Simon notices his fear and tells him: “I think I just got how important the last 3 mins of your life just were, and to get the reaction you just got from the audience must be unbelievable. It’s people like you the reason why we come to Wales every year, I think you could be a special talent, but you have to start believing in yourself” perhaps it’s What jamie needs to believe in himself.
